Larimer County will continue its review of an intergovernmental agreement with Wellington during October and early November.
The main topic is the growth management area adopted by the Wellington Town Board last year. Many rural property owners who were included in the GMA want to be taken out. The boundary designates where Wellington is likely to grow over the next 20 years and it identifies appropriate zoning for that growth. It has no effect unless the property is annexed and developed.
At a meeting of town board members and county commissioners on Sept. 29, town officials said they did not want to change the boundary. Doing so would require another round of public hearings, they said.
County commissioners and the planning commission will hold a work session on Oct. 14 at 6 p.m. in the county courthouse offices building in Fort Collins. Commissioners said they want more detail on dairy, farming and ranching issues that could be affected by an intergovernmental agreement.
The county’s agricultural advisory board will review the GMA and agreement on Oct. 27, 12:30 p.m., in the extension office meeting room at 1525 Blue Spruce Drive in Fort Collins. The ag board will also hear a report on proposed changes to zoning regulations for horse business facilities at the same meeting.
The county’s environmental advisory board will discuss the GMA and intergovernmental agreement at its monthly meeting on Nov. 10, 6 p.m., in Carter Lake Room on the first floor of the courthouse offices building.
The planning commission and county commissioners will hold a second round of public hearings before voting on the issue. Those dates have not been set.
